Olson Farms, Inc.

Olson Farms, Inc. is a fifth-generation family owned and operated farming and custom cattle feeding business located near North Platte, Nebraska, which is in the heart of Nebraska’s crop country and at the edge of the Nebraska Sandhills. Kirk Olson is the president and general manager of Olson Farms, and he and his wife, Tracy, have been partners in the business with his parents, Andy and Marcia, for the last 36 years. Kirk and Tracy also have two of their daughters and a son in law who are involved in the family operation in different capacities.

Olson Farms prides themselves in providing quality care for their cattle by using their years of experience and knowledge in the cattle feeding business while seeking the advice and expertise of qualified veterinarians and feed nutritionist for a consolidated health program.

They have a team of diverse and dedicated employees who are certified in the Beef Quality Assurance Program as well as continuing education in safety training programs that ensure a safe and efficient environment for all.

Brandon Faimon

Yard Manager

Brandon Faimon, Marshland Acres West at Olson Farms CowCamp, has managed the yard for 5 years. He is originally from a small community in south central Nebraska where he was raised on a small-scale dairy farm. In 2017 Brandon and his wife Jaimie and their two children, Brenlea & Bowen, moved to southwestern Nebraska.

Brandon’s 11years of feedlot experience and 9 years as a manager, has opened the door to lots of opportunity, learning, and growth. Brandon is certified in a Quality Assurance Program and continues to take part in safety training programs to ensure a safe and efficient environment on the farm. Brandon is excited to keep growing as a cattleman and to keep learning the new ways agriculture has grown to provide the best opportunities for cattle to perform to their highest potential.

Terry Ohlde

Terry Ohlde is an Elite Account manager for Alta Genetics, starting in 2004. Terry and his team at Alta oversee the breeding and reproductive program at Marshland Acres West. Our goal is for MAW to be at the top of reproductive performance.

Terry also covers Eastern Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Kansas. Terry uses a consultative team approach with his clients which include large progressive dairies and heifer programs in this region. He strives to build relationships with our clients that includes nutritionist, veterinarians, and other consultants. Terry’s goal is to create value, build trust and deliver results.

Dairy Nutritionist

King Hickman

King Hickman, DVM is a founding partner of GPS Dairy Consulting, LLC (2009). He has been working in the Dairy industry since 1989 and became an owner and partner of Dairy Production Services, Inc. in 2006. Dr. Hickman provides extensive independent nutritional and management consulting including feeding and bunk management, planning and implementation of forage plans, procurement of bids and sourcing and implementation of growing heifer programs. Other services include review and design of vaccination schedules, biosecurity and herd health protocols as well as review of and advice on cow comfort and facilities and overall monitoring of herd performance.

Dr. Hickman is a graduate of Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and holds a certificate from the University of Wisconsin Dairy Health Management Program. He has served the dairy industry for over 30 years as a practicing veterinarian, a Team Business and Development Coach in Allied industry and as a nutrition and management consultant. This broad range of experience has provided him with a unique set of technical, business management and coaching skills.

He is an AVMA and IVMA member as well as a member of the National Mastitis Council. As a career-long member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) he has served as Chairman of the Nutrition Committee and facilitated several educational seminars for veterinarians. He has serviced as a guest lecturer at multiple animal science and veterinary colleges and has broad national and international speaking experience on topics varying from dairy nutrition and cow comfort to change management and people development. Dr. Hickman lives in Sheldon, IA with his wife Kecia and has four children.
