Feeder/General Farm Worker (Durand, WI)
Looking to hire a feeder/general farm worker on a large custom heifer raising operation. Full-time position with competitive pay. Monday – Saturday. Hours per day vary by time of year and some Sundays might be required to work during planting and harvesting or during bad weather (snow).
Job Duties:
- Maintains and repairs machinery such as silage trucks, payloader, skid steers, tractors, and other farm vehicles
- Cleans and lubricates equipment
- Performs routine maintenance
- Readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations
- Watches gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure equipment/machines are working properly
- Operates trucks to haul manure and silage
- Operates tractor to pack silage during hay and corn harvests
- Operates skid steers to clean barns
- Yard maintenance such as fixing gates and curtains, repairing fences, emptying garbage, cleaning shop, etc.)
- Pressure washes farm equipment
- Mow lawn and weed eat (also includes spraying weeds and minor yard work)
- Plow/shovels snow
Skills/Requirements:
- *Farming experience: Required
- Welding experience preferred but not required
- Ability to complete work orders in a timely manner maintaining high quality standards
- Use a variety of hand and power tools
- Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to managers
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend for the entire workday
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays
- Be able to effectively work in a team environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
